Had a search along the river today, nothing of value. The little ring looks like brass or copper alloy.

Any ideas on what the ornate patterned thing is?

I thought it might be a brooch but the bracket thing on the rear doesn't look like it would be for a brooch.
I'm guessing it could be anything from 1940s to 1960's from where I found it.

Does anyone know what this might be?

It's like a mini cuff link. The decorative cap might be missing from one end.

It's some kind of brass metal.

About 10mm end to end with the disks about 7mm in diameter.

Found in the WA gold fields.

Today's river side finds.

I think the Scorpio pendant is sterling silver. The rear is stamped "TG.S". It does not look like any letters are worn away before or after those three characters.

Any ideas on what the last thing is - metal collar with a wooden post through the middle.
It has a leather skirt at the bottom. About 4" in diameter.
It was buried 10 inches in clean sand under the top soil in an undisturbed area so I'm thinking its from 1900 ---> 1950?
Some sort of small boat mast mount?

Hi mate. Did you find out what that thing with the leather on it was?
Is it being looked at upside down maybe?
😆 when I clicked on you latest find I was taken to page 1 and thought that was it. I gotta watch out navigating here.

Nah best guess was that it was part of a small old boat, maybe where the mast went into the top of the deck. I've found heaps of old copper boat nails in the area. Probably from small 3m / 10 foot recreation weekend yachts.

It took me a while to work out how this forum works, its somehow a bit different to others that I use.

Hi Hilux, I always enjoy looking at your finds. I just used Google camera to see what it could come up with about the ornate thingy. Could not find anything that matches exactly but some of the brooches of french origin may be similar in style.

Yeah finding odd things is always interesting.

Old coins are also fun.

I'm just sitting here contemplating going out for a look right now!

Looks like a cufflink to me. Maybe wrong.
Yes its very much like a cuff link but maybe too small. The ends are only about 7mm diameter.

The site was probably 1890 - 1920 based on the bullet casings I found.

Did they use mini "cuff links" to hold down collars?
