Hi there, my name is Susie. I am the single mum of a crystal obsessed 8 year old. I actually studied geology at school (a very long time ago) and up until now, he has been happy with the rocks/crystals I have given him. He has expressed interest in finding his own - he loves amethyst and opal as well as fossils.
I have joined so I can learn more, and maybe plan some trips where he can grow into this hobby.

Have a google search for your local lapidary club, they might have a facebook page or a website with some useful information. Sometimes those groups newsletters are a mine of information and they have family camps fossicking.

It's not exactly what you're asking but he may also be interested in growing his own crystals from solutions - have a web search there should be a load of info. I think you can buy kits for DIY at home.

Have fun.

Thank you so much. I will definitely look I to it. We have had gem shows at our community centre which he loves going too, so he may enjoy this as well .
