Can any Vic residents advise what water levels are like in permitted creeks at the moment ?

I Want to do a couple of weeks highbanking and detecting around Dunolly, tarnagulla , Bendigo , creswick , moliagul etc

I dont mind digging 4 - 5 feet down to get to water or gold .

Any suggestions ?

Sheesh, after digging 5' I hope you find water, cause gold ain't gonna quench your thirst.

Yeah I tried drinking gold once when I was a bit thirsty and I nearly choked on it as it went down ....and crickey didnt that hurt even more a couple of days later . I swear next time I will just take a water bottle .

To be honest I cant dig all day in the heat we had lately , and when youre standing in the bottom of a hole the heat does build up more . Hopefully some cool days will allow me to sink a little test hole or two in the right places .

there is a lot of gold out there waiting to be rescued , can you imagine being a gold nugget getting moved and pushed and pulverised as the earth moves over the passage of 400 million years ?

Its not a very progressive career but I will do what I can to help out.

Gee HeadsUp, no wonder passing a nugget can be a painful experience! Didya dig THAT one up afterwards?

You're a better man than I even if you only go scratching around for a couple of hours during the summer. I went panning a couple of weeks ago and I think I spent more time in the river than actually panning.
