Hi brains trust, could anyone share their advice with me please on whether I choose a Xt705 or nox 600 for coins & relics? I have a sdc2300 for Gold hunting but in trashy areas its driving me a little crazy, I need to discriminate out some of this trash. I dont have budget for nox 800, need to stay around $750 mark. Thanks

I have a 705 and just love it for what it can do for the dollars but if I could get a nox 600 for under $750 I would jump on it as they retail for $999 and reading all the post the nox is smashing it
Roy

Thanks for your input - really appreciate it!!

Can I ask Cando seeing as youve obviously got lots of 705 experience why youd go the nox?

And can I ask the same question to you please Roy Cobb? Me having no experience with either of these detectors & they are miles apart from the sdc.

Smokey Bandit- true that!! Haha

Both awesome machines mate. If you want a detector that's faster deeper....much much more stable on the beach and mineralized ground....Go for The Nox you won't be disappointed for the price. :Y:

See SB last comment

But the 705 is still a goog detector at the right price id you cant go a nox

Under $700 get the 705 dual pack...

Better for coin and discrimination...

NOX if you wish to hit the beach but unless you spend lots of hrs learning and understanding the many settings... Dig every thing beach or else where...

I do not have the time to spend so keep going back to the 3030 or Excalibur - In my experience on the beach and gold fields and under water... The NOX 800 does little that my other machines do not do as well or better.

It is light and I like the balance in the water with the 11"coil, but on my land permissions it is like using an SDC2300 so not worth the effort. And with teh option of an Excalibur or 3030 - I can not find a reason to keep it.

So many reports I believe are more about people getting out and coil to the ground.. And coming from inferior machines. I can hit some places with the 3030 and get few finds and yet turn up a month later and get old and deep finds.. Ground conditions and the coil in the right place. Yet so many seem to think they hit a place and the NOX is finding stuff that other could not. Then there is the DIG every thing that some are happy to do...

Was snorkeling the other week the SDC2300 out performs the NOX in wet sand and under water.. The 3030 and NOX was a had call as depth is so questionable and black sand was also a factor. But so easy to discrim crap out with the 3030 and when I am struggling to stay down and fan / dig a target in the surf... The NOX is not efficient for my style of hunting I would rather leave the beer bottle tops for others..... :)

It did do well in Fresh water and quite stable..

PS. My NOX and Water proof adapter to suit the CTX3030 headphones will be available shortly for sale..

Still trying to do a swap with another member for his 3030 but he is after cash :)

The 705 is a very good machine for coin shooting. Seeing as you have a SDC, you don't need the dual pack. There are a few 705 machines available secondhand since the 'Nox came out. And for a reasonable price. Your budget will get you one and a good pinpointer, if you need one.

And thanks to everyone else for their input too, I really do appreciate everyones thoughts. Got the Nox, might help me discriminate a bit in the beach. Time will tell. Happy digging

You can have a brand new equinox 600 for $809 including the eBay discount for this month. I think you're fine recommended retail 899 and I have seen quite a few advertised it 799. why the hell would you buy a second hand one for $750.. to save $50 I wouldn't bother.. :)
