AL, no mate It wont work on a Nox, bloody pity though as the monster coils would be pretty dam slick on a Nox.

couldn't agree more!

I'm getting sick of the NOX, sick of the damn thing hanging up on things when in the scrub.. if you ask me it makes for a annoying time out, so much so I'm thinking of offloading my NOX and going another brand VLF that has a better coil choice. Any suggestions as to what brand I should consider?

Thanks

Whites GoldMaster 24k perhaps? Has 4 coils available from 4x6 all the way up to a 14 x 8 I think. And all closed coils - no open spoke. The Gold Monster coils usable on the Nox would fix this issue for sure.

Has TID numbers too so can be used for coins/jewellery.
48 kHz so should be hot on the small stuff.
Might lose some depth on the silver coins and other high conductors.

Personally never used one but might be suitable for what you want.

NE.

Pretty cheap easy fix to close them in with Lexan & a good plastic glue either to the cover plate or even directly to the coil.
Example here directly to coil: https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/6682-homemade-scuff-cover-skid-plate/
I'd be more inclined to glue to a cover plate so you have the option of using an open coil if needed, i.e. in water, but the link gives a good idea on how to go about it.
You can also add pieces to the top to close it in. For the top I'd use velcro to attach lexen & close the top in. This allows for easy removal for cleaning out periodically.

I have seen a DIY skid plate glued to a coil cover..it seemed to work well enough and looked easy enough to make with a jig saw...

I would probably add a few carefully placed holes to allow the use of zip ties to give some extra security when fixing to the coil itself...

some great feedback & bait setting for me to follow up, thanks gents.

I dont have a 3D printer and won't buy one either, I'm well & truely over the computer spending spree. I went Apple everything (desktop, laptop, iPad & phone) 10 years ago and believe it or not since I've only had to upgrade the phone - best move I ever did. Also I dont get that damn blue screen of death anymore except when using work laptops - bloody Windows. Anyway thats off subject, sorry

Going away tomorrow on a 4 day gold trip with a buddy, taking the NOX, we'll see if it cant change my mind on keeping it

Got these little ones with the nox and 6" coil this morning. Had heaps of trouble with false signals and disappearing ones once you scrape in this spot so instead of the pick and scoop I took a bucket, shovel and pan this morning and dug up a shovel full of dirt from each signal and threw it in the bucket. Probably dug a dozen signals and filled 2 buckets then panned it off in a creek nearby. Pretty happy with the results especially since this spot has been hammered by dozens of SDC s including mine.

They are a really good machine, but yeah making a bottom plate and zip tying like the other guys have said would be a step in the right direction. The whites machine Northeast has mentioned is a very nice machine as well and has the benefit of fully enclosed coils.
