Yes, my mother did the same thing. I think the results were about the same. But she also backed it up with the question of what were their craving foods. If they were sweet it was a girl - if they were bitter or sour, it was a boy. Funnily, I think the cravings results were more accurate than the ring thing. "Sugar and spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of..." seemed to be true!
