We were blessed with a new grand daughter freshly hatched on Thursday so I took a trip to Perth on the weekend.

It was a good opportunity to introduce to older boy to treasure hunting.

Armed with his new Garrett Ace 150 we took to the playgrounds. That way I could still keep an eye on the grand daughter while we found treasure. We moved from one playground to the next until he pulled up his first coin (20c) just on dark.

Perhaps I've started something that's going to be difficult to keep up because Sunday we had to go again. I actually picked this up with the White's GMT. It mightn't look deep but the white sand was about 300mm deep and the target was another 100mm down in the yellow sand.

It was a fun find after digging a gigantic hole

Off course there's always the undesirable finds as well. The little grand daughter came up with this

It's great when the younguns first realise that a detector can find coins,.. their excitement is the way we ourselves should feel doing the same.congratulations on the newest Moneybox addition to the family, and the newest treasure hunter to the hobby (keep digging),.. just make sure that at this early stage he gets some immediate feedback benefit from his finds (that'll help keep the mind on track over time),..after all, its all about those great memories. :D

Congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter, good to see the kids out with the Ace 150 enjoying themselves. :)
