Weekend Trip to Oberon

Hey all,

I was planning a weekend trip either end of of this year or early in the new year to Oberon to try my hand at fossicking around the rivers there.

Just wondering what kind of gear/permits (if any) I would need for this?

I did a tiny bit of panning in a town called Goldfields in Arizona a few weeks ago and loved it, and would like to do some more here. I found a bunch of gems, and a few small flakes of gold that I'll post up here when I get home from work. Maybe some small pieces of silver as well.

Any help is appreciated!

If you are fossicking in a state forest you will need a permit from Forestry, see https://www.forestrycorporation.com.au/visit/activities/fossicking for more info.

Otherwise in NSW you don't need a fossicking permit, just obey all the rules in the guide http://www.resourcesandenergy.nsw.g.../A-Guide-to-Fossicking-in-New-South-Wales.PDF
