Hi everyone,

Just thought I would introduce myself. I am a mum of 2 from Sydney. I am keen to introduce my two kids and husband to the world of fossicking.
When I was a child my family used to hook the caravan on and go travelling around Australia every school holidays. One of our favourite past times was fossicking. The places I remember we did the most fossicking was Lightning Ridge and Bingara. So this holidays we are off to see some of the countryside and do a bit of fossicking along the way.
Ever since I suggested it to hubby, he has watched countless hours on YouTube, and I think every single video that Wal and Liz have posted...lol He is just a tad excited. I hope we can come back with some wonderful pieces, and even if we don't, I am sure that the kids will benefit from time away from their laptops and electronic gadgets.

I have got some wonderful information from this forum so far. And I hope to learn more from you all as we do more.
Thanks for haveing me. I hope to have some photos when I come back of our finds.

Cheers,
Narelle

Hi Narelle,

I think it's great that you're getting the whole family involved in fossicking and I'm sure you'll find yourself digging through the topics for hours on end.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions and I look forward to reading all about your adventures soon.

Nugget.

Welcome to the forum Narelle. Isn't it great how life can turn a full circle from such a great pastime as fossicking. I'm sure your kids will benefit greatly from your outings.

The challenge of that next gold flake or colorful gem and the adventure of getting to new locations will stay with them for years, and who knows, the cycle may again repeat itself with their families. Hope you find the forum a great asset and I'm sure the hobby will be rewarding on many levels. Best of luck out there,

Cheers Wal.

Welcome and what a great thing to do get your kids out in the country and have fun
You could lie to them and get them an Ipan Or Isluice but they will work out if it doesn't have batteries it may not be real but you could paint an I on both LOL
All the best on your adventures hope you find heaps
