I just buy a couple of $3.00 mysery bets (Mystery bets) because I know nothing about horse racing. Apart from the odd lottery ticket I buy a mysery bet on the odd occasion I have a beer at the pub, definitely in front with this method

Yeah, I don't buy raffle tickets or lotto tickets--in front as well. Just spend 100 cup day.
It's a once a year event--enjoy. Probably cost you more to go to the pub for dinner.

For those who missed it in the race after the Melbourne Cup, bit of an omen bet Goldfields ran second but cop the payouts on it

I find going to work makes twice as much...Dont mind a punt but lining a bookies pockets on the Cup doesnt turn me on.
That reminds me of a race I saw overaeas. The local mafia ( or non Italian equivalent) was obviously in control and quite visible, when the favourite lost control of his ride everyone slowed down to let him catch up and win on the line. Painfully obvious but kind of funny to watch :lol:Redfin said:
