There has been much prior effort and work by members of this forum, PMAV, BUGU and other groups over the years to maintain and protect public access to Victorian bushland.

The petitions below request that the Legislative Council (#554) and Legislative Assembly (#202424) call on the Government to not create any new national parks and to keep state forests open to public access and traditional activities.

You have until the 8th of August to add your (ongoing) support, not much time left. The Legislative Council petition (#554) is currently only a handful of signatures shy of 17,000 making it the most signed of the currently listed petitions. The Legislative Assembly petition is second at just over 10,500 signatures.

It takes 2 minutes to complete (you must have a Victorian address to sign petition).

No mate, that would give the people who would like to see you and I banned from enjoying ourselves and practising our hobby of detecting, fossicking, fishing etc. in the great outdoors of our country ammunition to discredit everyone who signs the petition.

fair point.

I think this is really important to sign if you're in Victoria. (Wish it was open to interstate tourists).
From experience in NSW, when you lose State Forests to National Parks you will systematically lose recreational activities altogether or have them severely restricted to token areas that are very small.

There is a lot of open wording being used like:
It is "likely" there will be "some" designated areas.
This is non-committal & leaves them open to use their go to one liner:
"[Insert activity here] is generally not permitted in National Parks as it's not consistent with National Parks values"
