Hey guys, just curious to know. That if i made a venturi style nozzle, added a foot valve and strainer on it. Would it allow me to go to a bigger sluice without having to buy a bigger pump?
Looking at dredge videos if it sucks up hesps of rocks etc. Surely it would suck up a heap more water?

If I understand them correctly you need to pump in very high pressure for them to work.
If you think about energy in vs energy out theory (minus friction losses) you simply can't make more power out than what you put in from something.

What pump are you using and what do you want to run?

But isnt that why they funnel down to a quarter of the feed size to pressurise the flow?

Ive just a little 2.5 100lpm. Works fine with 8inch sluice. But just dont think it will be enough to run 12 inch.
I have a 6.5hp pump capable of running the 12 and 20 inch.
Its just heavy/awkward to get to some spots.
Just trying to explore different options.

Occasional_panner is pretty much on the money. Silentd76 if i were you i would be looking for a plan B. :Y:

Yeah ..got a beer mate..n' a chocalate bar..n' ...oh a paper! ..git us a paper Ken..eh...eh.! *****...what's that crawl'in in the grass.. ]:D

You'll just have to cart the 6.5 go mate. 12 inch needs a lot of water. I found dream matt needs more water than cross riddles too btw, in case you were planning to go down that track.

OK.
Me no Tiger snake. ]:D ]:D
If you have anything that even looks like a venturi, It may be
considered that you are dredging.
I know, Sounds crazy but if you did this and were inspected, I would say that
it will take a fair bit of explanation to satisfy the inspector that you are not
indeed dredging.
As for living in NSW, Word of warning.
Don't.
A certain lobby group has written a set of rules around this scenario and to satisfy
the powers that be that a High Banker cannot be converted to a dredge.
(Which does not work properly.)
And to make it simple for an inspector to spot.
Only one hose is allowed for delivery from a pump.
Also, No solid hose except if it is 38 mm or smaller in diameter.
.
Occasional_Panner has hit the head on the nail about the engineering side of things.
.
You are going to need a bigger pump.

I don't know anything except this bloke I know that got a 3" built by pedders...it was bad A55!
