Gday all!
I have access to a private block on the Turondale road near Duramana just out side of Bathurst.
I havent detected there as of yet, but I know there are quite a few big mullock heaps and old shafts near the creek (its either the Winburndale or Cheshire)
But for the life of me I cannot find any info online about gold in this area.
Just wondering if anyone knows of the production of that area or even if they were looking for gold?

Cheers everyone!

Much gold was won by the "old timers" from both of those creeks plus Peel, St. Anthony's, in fact just about every creek in the region.
However, and I can attest to this, the gold was very fine, and in association with black sand, very hard to separate.

During the '70,s, mate and myself used a dredge in several of those creeks and I cant recall seeing a speck larger than a flat pinhead compared to the Turon where much of the gold was "shotty", grain of wheat size.

Good luck with it anyway, at least the tiger snakes will have gone to sleep for the winter. (get them cranky and they chase you off)
Mike
