Just wondering where you can fossick at Tuena.Just near the camping area or can you go further up or down the creek?Don't want to wander onto someone's property. Also did you guys leave any gold there after the get together?ha ha.

Went out to Tuena today for a bit of panning.Just panned near the crossing for a few specks of colour.Noticed most people were going over the back with high bankers etc.Has anyone crossed the creek in a 2wd?I'm guessing the area near the crossing would get hit pretty hard, but didn't want to venture any further just in case. Anyway had a good day out there.

Its ok to cross in a 2x2 as long as there isnt rain expected there or near by.
Ive only done the area near the camp ground and some private property , if no one else can help maybe ask at the store.

If the waters low enough 2wd will get you across and a decent way in the second crossing in is not good for 2wd I got my old hilux ute across but coming back I was caught on the diff and spent an hour or so getting out.
If your worried just walk the creek most of the area has a little gold I actually saw pretty good results from an old fella running his banker on that section of creek right next to the crossing. He was telling me a fair bit about the creek and even told me to show him my DIY banker which he told me he personally didn't like the walbanker style his words were set the f**king thing up and show me how you use it. After an hour I shut off and he shut of and I got slightly more (top sections only)he still didn't like them but was impressed how well it worked. He also told me gold was every where but the trick was finding certain I disturbed layers for good clean outs and that even as he digs he test pans to make sure he's still in the pay zone.
If your only panning I'd just walk the creek

Thanks guys.I have a Mitsubishi triton so I have the ground clearance, but might stick to digginholes idea and just walk the creek.I wonder if the old guy you speak of was the one who left the massive hole just downstream of the crossing.I took about 8 pans from the hole and got a few specks, put probably half his tailings back into hole before leaving.Maybe next get together at Tuena we could raise money towards a concrete crossing.Just an idea.

Not sure but I have been back since and where he was digging had no sign of him being there,he was digging in the creek bed not all that deep and also frowned upon digging in to the banks and under trees so I doubt it was him.

Couldn't have been him then because this hole was in the bank and at least 3 ft deep and there was also a hole under a tree close by.
