Ok guys my latest adventure.
It was just down a small gully leading into the main gully with old reports saying gold was found in good quantity and was on a shallow lead, how could this go wrong lol. A line of diggings running down minor gully from unknown name mine, we chose to dig between 2 of the larger holes in the line, old holes covered in overburden and debris, started by digging out both old holes to bedrock at either side of my chosen spot, cool that's done. Next remove all dirt and clay until near depth of old holes, threw it to one side. Took the rest down to what was an obvious wash layer, worn stones then big quartz and ironstone then mixed pebble of quartz and ironstone and fine white sand. Smashed it up and put the lot through the blower, longer story short it DID NOT pay off this time, we got a few small bits with a small picker for under 1g all up but for the size of hole I wanted more, ahh well better luck next time, got a new plan and guidelines to follow next time so we will see. Gonna track down and target the richer section instead of random select. Good to be in the bush either ways ;)

Sorry if pics don't orate right way and I can post gold pics tomorrow if wanted. Cheers

One of those things.. A metre to the left and there might have been an ounce.. You will never know!
Hard digging by the look of it.
Well done

That's the funny thing about leads, the gold usually concentrates in gutters which sometimes may only be small in area and very easy to miss. Keep going mate, I think you may end up finding a nice amount of yellow by the looks of things :D

how often have you checked your tailings spike? i know alot of the gold is locked up in mud in a lot of areas, ive run barrows full of white pipeclay throught a drywasher and got very little then taken a bucket home puddles the clay and found alot of very fine gold that will just bounce right through.

Obviously you know alot about this stuff so love any reply
I checked a 20l bucket of the best looking stuff by puddling and pan but got only a few specks, I will check it always now mate. Will very fine stuff usually be in the decomposed bedrock/pipe clay only or right through wash? Cheers
It was a random hole really so I can't complain
