Weve been working an area on an off for 12 months odd, tucked away a bit and most has seen no attention,i love finding these spots if we can,ya never know what the next swing might bring, weve pulled prob 6-7ozs so it didnt turn into anything serious sadly but where not done out there yet, most the gold very scattered and no tight patches really.
The better half went out a few weeks ago and came home with a bit under 40grms for the day,she hit a little patch,so i got an invite the next day (how lucky am i) and we pinged a few bits, only 2ozs off the patch so far and its near done, might be a few more but wont be much.
This is the only spot we found gold right near its source, theres no old workings etc for 10klms odd in all directions, now about 100-150yrds north of this little patch the oldtimers came threw dryblowing and testing,i seen these last year, and i got a tiny very rough bit 6-8 months ago 80 yrds away with ironstone on it,we spent 30-40 mins wandering but missed the little patch then.
I know the area fairly well now and this is the only spot ive seen tested,i dont know what the old boys seen here because alot of the area reads the same to me in different spots, they got colour,a few old heaps running for about 20-30ft 150yrds from the patch, theres slatey ironstone about and nearby some weathered greenstone so its a bit of a contact im sure but

within 1-2klms theres lots of spots identical, seen another cuppla little heaps the other day,one on the edge of a little quartz run 3-400yrs away and another 100yrds north of there hot spot.
Will post a cuppla pics, they just missed this little patch but its just got me buggered amongst all this similar lookin ground off an on what they seen there amongst the rocks that said try here, man they were good some of them, impossible in this large area they jagged right next to a little patch.....

Those oldtimers might have snagged a sunbaker while walking through the bush, which would certainly have piqued their dryblowing interest for at least a little while. The other possibility is they were loaming and found a concentration of specks in the area of the blowings, so decided to give it a try, but without success.

Congratulations on your success there so far - it's lovely, rugged gold and hopefully there's plenty more yet for you to uncover.

Leaves me scratching my head sometimes when you nail a spot like that.
Some of that stuff looks like it hasn't moved far and some has the tell tale signs of movement. But has it travelled or has stuff travelled over it?

Or is the rougher stuff from a well travelled specimen that has finally broken down in that spot?

Most times I go nuts trying to work out where it came from.....but it's fun trying :Y:

Some nice gold there Goldchaser1,thanks for the pics. And yes I Know what you mean M.T I have also tried so hard to work out the travelling path of gold and now just so happy to find it after its been sitting for so long undisturbed.

Cheers

Phil

Yeah every cuppla weeks would be nice jaros
Grubstake ya might be right, wife got a couple on top but at the main run 150yrds away but she did ping a 3gr bit close to the dryblows, showed me the spot cuppla days ago
Thanks RM no the lighters somewhere about 1.4klms away :)
MT yeah few theorys that could pan out hey about these spots but i think this is close to the source, got quite a few real nice waterworn bits in this area, most gold in the area has well travelled except this spot, think some bits maybe see more water in relation to where there sitting, maybe in the path of the little washouts-gutters etc but just guestwork really, now back out there and hopin we find a deposit like yours :)
I get a real kick out of seeing the oldfellas spots like this, what id give to walk threw and say gday when they were there, not sure if where first to see them but no detectors have been in the area, the golds nice, the history's better sometimes though.... :)
Thanks cruiser an bigwave cheers.....

You are living every detectorists dream, not totally untouched, but untouched by modern hands and detectors.
Well done finding that, it looks lovely and peaceful there, what a bonus finding all that gold.
When the big bits run out have a think about running a dryblower there yourself. (Not sure if they are legal where you are at)
There is bound to be small gold there too.

Congrats! Great to see a patch come good and be bigger than 1 bit lol.

I'm probably preaching to the knowledgeable but have you "gridded" too? Hard to do on ground looking like that but ...

Yes OP dryblowers allowed over here but this areas a little odd for wa,theres bugger all tiny stuff about, wife tried the sdc on this spot the other day and the only reason she got a nugget was because it was in between two small trees and the 8" coil fitted in there,4.5gr bit, will do a few pans around the dryblows though,ya right ya never know, some very heavily waterworn rocks scattered about the hills when walking about, lots was goin on here millions of years ago.....
Detectis not yet but should do yeah, dont like using a chain usually as it leaves a sign on the ground "gold here",this spots tucked away a bit so should be ok,and dont worry this areas got its fair share of one nugget patches
Cheers Noogle....
