I was walking back to the car having just bought a new beach shovel at bunnings and there on the ground was a 10cent coin. I hesitated for a brief second and then continued on to the car.

Had I been down at the beach I would have dug a solid meter and a half of sand just to get my hands on that same 10cent coin.

Go figure :)

I have stopped for a 5Cent and then looked around to see if it was part of a bigger spill.

Then again at my age and the way I dress and get around etc. I am sure some just think; for the grace of God, there go I.

Have had one lady ask if I had enough for the Sausage sizzle, or did I need some more.

I think the shock on my face scared her off, before I could have even started to think about it.... YES PLEASE....

The lure of 'what could this be' from a strong signal of a metal-detector causes humans to make more stuff-ups than any other invention known to man.

Besides Tequila and hand guns!

Same thing goes for lead. I'm always in a hurry to dig up lead but when i see a lead sinker free for all out on the jetty it's just not the same. It's clearly the action of the pick and removal of soil and rock that makes metal detecting so much fun.

I think once you have detected a target you get a bit of a rush with anticipation wanting to now what one has found . If we knew that they are all 5 cents pieces it would not be the same Cheers Greg

10 cents! Wow!
You done the right thing by leaving it there. You need to work hard for your money now days, it would be wrong to simply pick it up.

Maybe if you asked somebody to bury it, draw a treasure map with riddles to solve, then dug in 20+ places trying to find it.
You'd be deserving of such a great reward.

Gold diggers- making things harder on themselves since as long as we can remember.

Travel about 80 Klms out,
Detect all day ignoring lunch,
Head back home with 4 dirty pre decimal coins, two silver, :D
Find $5.00 just sitting in the gutter,
Sit at your local with a schooner that cost $4.80 bragging about your finds
Contemplate on how to spend another day to do the same. ;)
Life sure gets tejouse don't it. :8

"Life gets Tee-Jus, Don't it? I think Carson Robison released it first, then a cover version "Life gets tedious, don't it?" by Peter Lind Hayes in 1948
