I've been fossicking for many years for gold and I keep coming across crystals and gems and know what most of them are but I've found one or two nice sized ones that I have no idea what they are what's is the cheapest easiest way to have them tested ??

Hey Ben, a Lapidary club may be able to help, if they are suspected Diamonds, diamond testers can be had for about $30 from Ebay, gives and instant result.

Or you could post up a few pics, they should be able to be indentified by members or give you an idea of what they could be. Would like to see them out of interest.

Or visit a Gemologist.

Cheers

Most gemstone and mineral books give you the basics on how to identify rocks and minerals. Try to find one in a local shop, and they are a handy thing to carry out in the bush at times for quick reference as well
