Hi there everyone.
Great site, lots of useful resources.
Im based in the hills in the New Norfolk area, a half an hour outside of Hobart. Got myself a minelab panning kit a few weeks ago. Along with my x terra 305 detector ive been spending a bit of time in the local creeks, sometimes in my wet suit. I recently done some fossicking while walking up the Styx river outside of Maydena, spotted a platypus, a snake, a few trout and the extremely elusive fresh water crayfish last week, heaps of fossils and tennis ball+ sized quartz, lots of clear, glass like material, thinking topaz, not sure how to identify it, no gold as yet.
