Southern cross North

Hi all , I am new to prospecting and have some friends who own property North of Southern cross in W.A . My question is has anyone recently tried around the above . My good friend has invited me to try . Hopefully some good small results for a novice . Any help would be greatly appreciated . I will hire some gear to start off with .
