A SURVEY OF PAID SCIENTIST HAS FOUND THAT USING SOLAR PANELS WILL WEAR OUT THE SUN AND USE IT UP.....

On 25th December last year we hit peak sun - now the sun is in decline....despite the eastern states implementing daylight saving the over all use of sunlight (a major contributing factor to global warming) is still the same - if only we could get half the earth to use no sun for 12 hours a day then we can start to redress the problem. The Greens have been quick to act and have proposed a licensing system where sunlight is controlled and regulated to preserve the sunlight we have left....solar panels would be metered and there be a luxury super tax on people with skin cancer.

Very average figures are 3kW minimum.

5kW is more common if you have the space.

The price has improved massively in the last 8 years.

When Rudd announced the 50 cents per kW Tariff my neighbours spent $50,000 on a 10 kW system , you can buy that now for around $6000.

We went for the max amount on the roof space available
23 panels works out at 6.4kw
Only had one power bill in two years
That was from running the AC on a few warm days have learnt from that
Now lookin at batteries but they are still a bit pricey

:Y:

The Tesla power wall is not currently feasible if you run the numbers but there are competitors coming in from LG and a few others , I am hoping the price point comes down in the next 2 years or I will make my own.

I have been told there is a two year wait for the Tesla Power Wall here in the West dont know how true that is
I got a quote for an LG Battery which was 13,000
I think I could build something with that sort of dosh....

I have just put a 19 x 330watt panel system on our house as well as an Ohm Pilot controller to heat my Hot water. This should make a sizable dent in my Bill. Im in the process of shopping around for a better deal from power retailers. I am currently paying 39c per KWh on peak rate. plus 114c per day supply charge but only getting 11.3c feed in tarriff. This is in Victoria. The system makes more than enough on a sunny day to cover consumption even when running a swampy and the washing machine / dishwasher. Its after dark that the electricery meter swings back in favour of the power gods in their ivory towers. Ive only just had my first bill, this was only partly offset by solar generation as the system wasnt fitted until part way through the billing period and the meter not reconfigured until three weeks after switch on but it was much lower than the same period last year.
Remember too that all sytems are not created equal. There are 5kw systems being quoted for $6k but the components are not near as good as one costing $10k so do your home work. PM me if you want any further specifics.

The feed back rate has a lot to do with it we only have a 1.5 kw system 7 panels but 66cent feed back ,we only get 1 or 2 bills a year under $100 GOOD TO 2024 once that's over I will look at batteries and adding more panels.I have to do it after 2024 or I will loose the 66cents feed back I have a contract regards john :Y:

I have 28 solar panels ( 7.68 kw solar array ) running a 17 kw system 24 x 2v batteries = 48v 1380 ah with a 14 kva backup generator geneset used around 40 - 45 its of dist
last year batteries are gel, no maintenance I check them monthly with multi meter they are expected to last 15 yrs. the total system cost $63000 would have been a similar cost to bring power in and I'm not on the grid NO power bills no mains water either so no water bill My house is the one with the lights on and air conditioning running when the power is off for every one else and the beer is always cold and I mean cold was a publican for 10 yrs once :) :) :)
