Knocked this up in the shed.
What's everyone's thoughts??
I have some expanded mesh to try out aswell instead of the circular matting and still need to get some moss. The small riffles at the top are made from an old pallet angle.
Might give it a run in the back yard with some old cons and some small led. ?

It's currently snowing though so maybe next weekend.

Nice design mate, before running anything down it, give it some support bars across the top of the sluice to hold it in shape. The small pebbles get into gaps n cracks and expands it before you know it, let alone the weight of the water sometimes.

I haven't used the circle matting yet but see how it goes. You have a very versatile and customizable sluice there mate!

If the top riffles don't work too well, put some riffles up there too.

Its harder to do, but instead of bolting riffles down with wing nuts, its better to have the riffles as one whole set that clamps down into the mat from above, rather than through the sluice. It just speed up the cleanup when you don't have to worry about dropping bolts.

Thanks atomrat! I will definately take your advice and put some bracing in.

Once I figure out what works and all the teething problems I will try make a hinged one piece riffle system, either adapt it to this body or make a new one all together.

I do like the highbankers though so it might end up growing a bit haha pleanty of 3mm aluminium to play with :p

Just dropped 21 pieces of lead in a 10ltr bucket of left overs....
Ran it through with the garden hose and amazingly picked up every piece!!

A couple were only tiny but still got them all!

Definatly need to make riffles one piece though to make clean up easier.

:)

Does anyone else test with lead due to having bugger all gold??

Nice looking set up mate, I'd give it crack without the riffles in the lower section of the box, the circular rubbing matting might want to block up a bit before and after the riffles, in any case I'd definitely be testing it with classified and unclassified materials to see if one tends to block up the matting, I wouldn't stress to much on the bracing of the box if you have used 3mm alloy sheet to construct it out of, it's going to handle all sorts of rough play ;)
