$6 door mat from Bunnings makes a good sluice mat!

Needs a bit of a tidy up but keen to get out and use it

I was going to get an use the same mat! They also have a 'cushion mat' that looks alot like miners moss. I was going to add some of that too. Would love to see how you go!

I tried that exact Matt years ago but I seemed to get flow under it therefore stealing the gold. I did find a section of it good for sapphires.
It will work, but needs to have no underflow, I think from memory it's not real dense rubber and sorta floated enough to get sand under it.

it does work well as a clean up mat ,but i found the the smaller gold #50 and above can be a problem to get it to release it at times

Thanks for the info, might be thicker/tighter than miners moss? Ive not used a sluice yet but working on one so I dont really have a baseline for performance

x2 for the the Gold Rat Dream Mat, it catches and holds the heaviest of the heavies, and yes, and during the wash up there was gold found underneath those heavy pebbles.

Yeah I was thinking about under flow, will need to think on how I’m going to keep it down

Tight fit in the sluice and the flow entry "on the mat" NOT "upside of the mat" and you will have no problems with underflow.

I agree, it is also my experience that an uninterrupted flow onto the sluice mat best .......

Most likely, I just blamed the holes being open to the deck of the sluice and the water ripples jiggling sand under the matt.

What about some v matting underneath to hold the gold?
