G'day All,

Ok we all know what gold looks like in our pan, does anyone have some pics of silver in a pan they have found?

I sometimes see silvery looking flakes in my pan, dont know if its silver or just some junk..

If anyone can put up a pic or two, that would be awsome.

I will be going to areas that have been known for silver mining so would be handy to know what I am looking at/for..

Thanks in advance, Tone

Silver will likely be in the form of sulphides so will be black. Or mixed in with Galena (lead sulphide)

I've seen 'silver nuggets' advertised on ebay as being from the flinders ranges but google doesn't back that up. Silver nuggets are found in Mexico though!

As for silvery flakes, could be gold and mercury, chips from your pick or something similar.

i crushed up a hot rock and got some gray / silver fines out of it

when i pan it , its heavier than ironstone and black sand , so i am going to smelt it then do a SG test to identify what it is

silver , tin , platinum maybe if i am lucky

hu nose :)

Could be native Platinum, Tin, Silver, Electrum. I would not throw it away TOT until you know what it is. Native Platinum would be a great find and there are deposits in Nth Qld I'm pretty sure.

Keen to see what you get out of it HeadsUp.
