The detectives and specialist forensic examiners who attend drug lab jobs are generally pretty cluey, and it would be unusual for someone to be charged without good evidence of amphetamine manufacture - which is a very different process than gold extraction (from electronic equipment maybe).

It is mentioned that he police attended his premises after he had failed to answer bail (presumably report to the police as a condition of his bail), this was perhaps for a different offence.

So I reckon there is a bit more to this story than is reported in the link!
