Found a heap of crumbly stuff on the side of a hill down to the creek.
Lots of rust through it.
Couldn't find any signs of gold in it.
Good or bad sign.

Really should take my camrea with me more often.
They where dice sized pieces about halph way down a 60 odd mtr
Bankside.
Very cracked and splintered.
Red rust all threw veins in the quartz.
The part of the bank im assuming it came from was toosteep to climb. So im not sure of there exact origin.
It was kind of scattered as a few hundered pieces that had stopped up on a game trail running along the bank.
Looks like it had only been there maybe a few weeks at best.
Im guessing it would have wased down in a few big rain falls a few weeks prior.
Sorry im not sure what extra info would be helpfull.
Thats about all i can remember of it.

if it is iron oxide in the quartz that is a good 'indicator'. be interesting to see where it sheds form.

Have rope.will climb.
Before any gets worried I'm a derrick-man on an oil rig
And spent several years stepping off cliffs withe SES.
Its a really good skill set to have out in the scrub.
Just dont go it alone. Never a good idea.

Take a trowel & and a pan & look for any depressions between where you found the quartz & where you think it might be shedding from. Take a sample ( or two ) & pan off looking for very fine colours of gold in the corner of the pan. You may need a magnifiing glass for this.

Crush it and pan it. Unlikely that you'll see visible gold in a piece you pick up off the ground.

There is a bloke in the town i live in with this mad quartz crushing spinny doodad.
Might rock round with a bucket an see if hell churn it up for me.
If not im thinking some type of bucket and sledge hammer type system.
Well cross that one when we get to it.
Thanks lads.

If I remember correctly. You are Gippsland way.
One thing you have to remember is out of 100 vains of quartz only 1-2 will contain gold
I should be heading out that way tomorrow (east Gippsland)
pm me aprox where you are talking about. Might be able to give you more info.
Small bits of decomposing quarts size of dice doesn't help a great deal.
If you find the area its coming from. And the size of the vain.

To make a dolly pot. All you need is a crow bar.
250x250mm 10 mil plate steel and the bottom part of a bollard
Bolt the bollard to the steel plate and presto home made dolly
Then crush and put through a classifier. Pan out and see what you have.
