Im wondering how long everyone runs for with what sluice configurations between clean outs?

I run all day with the Walbanker and clean out at the end. Once Angle and waterflow are good there is no need to do constant clean outs.
I have checked the tailings many times and I am not loosing anything.
Cheers
Mark :) :)

I cleanout at lunch, then at the end of the day.
In areas of high black sand deposits, more often. It depends how far down the sluice the mat (hog) is full.

I clean out twice a day even though the ground im working has no black sand at all.

has anyone tried this config...

(top to bottom) expanded, miners moss, bread crate(for eg), v mat?

Test pan a spot first. Then set up.

Twice a day.

Probably because I want to check that where we are digging has the yellow. I try shovel from one spot now rather than grabbing material from all over the place.

This was learnt last time because we had a couple of chunky pickers in a cleanout but had no idea which specific spot they came from.

To answer the question, I clean out to check we are getting a reasonable amount of gold where we dig.

My config now is approx 550mm slick, 500mm catwalk mesh and 150mm breadcrate and matting. Held down by 4 tabs. Breadcrate and matting are really only there to stop any gold sliding under the mesh out the end of the Walbanker in the first few shovels containing gold.

Makes for super quick dissassembly and re assembly.

Concentrates are quickly panned into a bucket for a show of gold, then all taken home for a slower, more thorough recovery.

Cheers

top to bottom config I meant...

as in stack/layers...

expanded riffles over miners moss over bread crate over v rib...thickness/height of breadcrate allowing for more cons extending run times?

Ahhh.

Catwalk straight on the sluice aluminium.

Breadcrate on Bunnings mat. Mat on sluice.

Ive found that all the serious stuff is in the first 2 riffles of the mesh. Nothing has been found in my breadcrate section yet. To the point where I ve stopped checking. I just do the whole clean out, all sections into 1 bucket.

What I do is not right or wrong, its just what I do and it makes cleaning/setting and packing up a breeze.

Its only my first year with a higbanker so I m not proclaiming to be an expert! (Thats my attempt a a disclaimer) :p
