Sorry mate ... from Victoria, din't know what state you're interested in, if I knew the locations were Vic related, I'd have a look through my info, no state, I haven't a clue ....... but I'm working on my ESP.
Cheers T.

Had a bit of a look and to tell the truth if you throw a dart at a map you'll hit a gold bearing area in that region.
Never bee to that exact part of the region but shared a day dry washing/detecting with amember the other day and did manage a nice .027 gm piece a bit further out at Enfield, again massive area, just pick a spot and away you go, like all areas around there they have all been well worked but as with elsewhere, wrong settings on the day, a swing to fast or too much overlap in the swing and they will have missed a piece .... you just need to walk over their missed target.
Any of the goldfields maps by Stone,Tully or Barnham should include that region and clearly show areas worth a look, interesting enough GeoVic for some reason doesn't show all that the other maps do??
You out midweek or just the weekends?
Cheers T.

Nice. thanks for that. I've spent a bit of time out in Enfield. Just looking for a change of scenery.

Mid week or weekends. I work in Brisbane two weeks of the month and live in Ballarat the other two.

Thanks again.

Hi Morgan

I'm also from Ballarat and these are the areas I can suggest for changes of scenery- Smythesdale, Scarsdale, Snake Valley, Happy Valley, Devils Kitchen, Linton, Skipton, Berringa, Staffordshire Reef, Black Hill (Scarsdale), Mount Clear (lots of trash here though), Avoca, Creswick, Clunes, Talbot, Yandoit, Between Daylesford & Blackwood (Wombat Side).

Jump on GEOvic and select crown land, mines & mineral occurences in the 'add layers' section- this will give you pleanty of options and also point out historical mining activity.

I agree with Teemore- or you could just throw a dart at a map! We live in the golden triangle it's arguably the best place in the world to look for the elusive alluvial- Good luck!

Thanks for that goldpig.

As a new arrival to Ballarat this is valuable info and I really appreciate it.

It has also been particularly difficult being one of only two (that we know of) using the type of detector that I have.

When you say Mount Clear is that the Canadian forest area or is there more? I am at mount Helen and I don't mind saying in public that the far end of the Canadian forest (100m walk from home) has not produced any gold for me but I have at least a dozen silvers with the oldest being 1922 and countless 1 and 2 cent pieces.

A bit of a buzz for a newby :)

Thanks again.

No worries at all- I lived in Mount Helen for ten years, great area. By Mount Clear I meant the bushland off Tinworth Ave - (from mount Helen you turn left at the roundabout onto Whitehorse Rd then right down Tinworth ave- heaps of old workings in the bush to the left here all the way through to the gold mine).

I love digging up old relics- keeps things interesting when the gold is low! If you are ever unsure of a place the guys at DEPI on the corner of Doveton and Mair (glasshouse) are always a great help.

Cheers
