hi everyone
Well its been talked about a bit but as i am completely new to this i have a couple of questions regarding a river sluice, been detecting for a while but moving into using a sluice and somewhat confused myself in the excitement and i guess it will be a bit of an open question but just looking at input
I am folding up a river sluice and am wondering the better way to have it, Should i have a wider opening and 'funnel' it towards the end or have it run parallel sides through out the length of the sluice? not including the the flared section at the start, if its really need?, just the main 'body' of the sluice i am more worried about.
The area i will mainly go to play will be Oallen Ford and a couple of other areas with slower moving water in parts, any advice is welcomed and appreciated

Cheers
Jamie

Hi Jamie, the idea of tapering or funneling thr sluice bed is to help increase the water flow. This would help you in low flow rate situations.

As tone said depends on the application. If you want to be abke to fit the end in a bucket to cleanout keep that in mind if you have low flow situations using a flair helps heaps.... tappering out I.e.wider at tge base helps slpw material down and allows gold mpre opportunity to drop out. No matter which way you go you can always modify pitch amd feed rate to suot conditions on the day. Good luck :D :)
