hello people, my tag is jacksprat and i dont know why , but i answer to jack ..or maybe sprat! . i hail from nambour in qld and i work at a local primary school. recently i got to go on an excursion with some kids to the gympie gold museum and i just loved the history of it all and it really got the blood pumping! i am 60 and starting to imagine life after work , and am thinking about gold prospecting . i know a cattle farmer north of gympie and the mary river runs through the middle of his property and he reckons there has to be gold still in the mary river system , and i agree after reading the book "gympie gold" i am keen. i have been looking for info on the net and stumbled on this site and ...wow... u people really know ur stuff. at this stage i have many questions , but i will start with a couple , firstly what are the legalities regarding searching for gold in qld , and secondly i want to buy some panning equipment but the stuff i see on ebay comes from usa , i would rather shop in oz ,i like the idea of a panning kit , but any advice would be appreciated , where can u recomend? am looking forward to the next phase of my life ...cheers , jack ,or..sprat.
