It's still pretty dry here but have been expecting it to ran all day.

We had a drop of free water in Adelaide. I had a 5:00AM call from security monitoring this morning to say we had multiple intruder alarms through the admin area, but no sign of entry through the doors. When I got to the office I found half of the ceiling of my area collapsed in a mushy heap of compressed cardboard ceiling tiles and waterlogged insulation batts. That explained the 'intruders'....

Snow forecast for Bathurst and surrounding districts tomorrow down to 600m, I'm not leaving the house any time soon... :)

Got here (Dunolly) just after midday to find both my smallish (3000 & 5000) tanks overflowing, and it rained hard an hour later.
I must get a big mother, hate seeing water go to waste as well.
And it is a tad cold as well.

Too true mate. very good rain. Tad on the brisk side. The forests are finally coming around after the drought. Get another 20,000 litres worth of tanks. I reckon it was flowing in at close to 500 litres an hour at a rough guess.

Sounds like your getting some good rain there loamer .our tank is full down in east gippsland just waiting for the forecast winds to arrive.

No rain up here in sunny Queensland, warm for this time of the year.
:) Mick

Hey Mick
Yep been crazy warm in Qld.
Today's a bit brisk with westerly winds but still in shorts !!

And for those whingeing about a bit of snow, where I lived for many, many years in northern Japan I'd shovel an aussie seasons snowfall in a week.
10- 15 metre seasons snowfall the norm. Oh and did I mention temps down to -25c plus and that's without wind chill.
Gold ...think same climatic environment as Alaska, long winter, very short summer and massive snow melts.

Now running hoses off the tanks to the trees. The creeks now have water - for all you panners, the water has also brought along tons of rubbish and leaf litter. The higher ground has some excellent natural clearance now (God's raking as I call it). Interesting to watch the water runs from the higher ground - amazing as to what gets shifted. Its always a tip I use - watch the way the water runs off the reef-lines into the gullies.

Cheers to the Loddon and Central Goldfields Shires, the DPI or Parks Vic for grading the tracks in the bush - nice work on the quagmires. Do they understand the term 'high-ground' and 'contours'.

6 days since my post on this. Drought? What drought? Even the cow cockies are smiling. Everyone around central Vic has a smile on their dial. Creeks are flowing, dams are filling, cows are doing cow things, the forests look magnificent, the ground is now ultra cool for detecting and i have noticed a massive drop-off in hot rocks and assorted ground noises. Now is the time to hit the summer 'hot spots'. One minor issue remains the state of the tracks. No 4WD - no go in some areas. Winched a couple of geezers driving sedans out already. And by the way, pack a chain saw - lots of trees down over the tracks.

Just one question? Where do Bunnings get off selling galv down pipe L bends for $39????? each, @ 2 per gutter required. Lengths of guttering for $11 is Ok but....... Oh well - new gutters and extra tanks = more free water. As I said - 'In your face global warming and el nino'.
