Was detecting up around Kingower many years ago. I hadn’t found any gold with my Whites and decided to try a spot near where the Hand of Faith was later reported as being found.
When I arrived at the spot, I discovered I had slammed the door on my headphone lead and the plug had been ripped off as it dragged on the ground outside the car.
Disappointed I packed everything up and drove home but to make a bad day even worse, I realised I had left my red pick behind in my hurry to leave.
Recounted that experience to one of my mates much later, and he said that he had heard the finder of the Hand of Faith say that he thought it was going to be a his lucky day because he found a red pick almost at the spot where he found the big nugget.
Detrack, I’d be going back to give that area a good thrashing.
