Simple realy. The plastic is part of i phone original packing. A tourch to give directional light which highlights details by forming shadows.

the phone sits in the plastic mount gives you stable focus on zoom. Cheers.

Dave, what are you trying to do here. All I can see is a plastic shell a torch and a box and no IPhone in the pics (I assume it's taking the pics).
What does this 'stuff' actually do?
cheers :)

He is using it to take snaps of detected finds. Lightbox type setup. Taking photos of detected relics is tricky business, especially when the selfie camera is the only lens that's not scratched n blury..

Dave - line the box with foil and also put a foil shield around the torch and see if that increases diffused light?

Thanks fellas...I have no photography skills which is apparent at the **** photos I post. In terms of diffusing light on an I phone, a mate of mine put some low-ply white tissue/toilet paper over the flash unit of his phone , between the phone and the hard protective case...reckons that diffused the light. I didn't know what he was talking about but now I get it.
cheers :)
