Pennies Spill

Dug these up in a 2 sq m bit of ground, they just kept coming, every time I put the detector down to dig, it signalled where I lay it. Pity they are not all silver.
Been soaking them in low heated olive oil, pic shows various stages of the tedious process.
Was a change from bottle tops & rubbish. I can't help wondering what went on in this patch years ago.

Thanks Silver, it was almost boring after a while, I'm sure there is more there. Kept thinking it was weird hadn't found any silver, so went back & those 2 thrippies came up. Limited by the shade & time of day, not worth getting heatstroke.
