Recently I did a small favour for a couple of forum members. They seemed pretty pleased and expressed their gratitude for me going out of my way to help them. I asked for nothing in return. I like the idea of doing something positive for a relative stranger for no other reason than it may make them happy.

So I'm putting it out there now for them to Pay It Forward. Do something positive for someone for no reason.

If anyone has a story of someone doing something for them please post it here.

When I arrived in Australia I had nothing at all. My uncle took me out and bought me a fridge, cutlery, pots and pans, crockery, towels etc. I have saved up for next 12 months or so and tried to pay my uncle back. He refused the money but told me to pay it forward one day.
My uncle has passed away 7 months ago and I was given the job of disposing of all the furniture and everything else in his house. First I though I would put everything on eBay and get few dollars for it but decided to give everything away instead.
I put ads on gumtree free to good home for all the items. I have met a nice Chinesse family, a couple from Argentina, a couple from France and a lovely chap from South Africa amongs others. Most were people that just arrived in Australia and had nothing. They were bit surprised about getting stuff for free but I told them to pay it forward one day.
I am sure my uncle would approve. :)

I was one of those that Ramjet helped and agree with his sentiment 100%. I was most appreciative of the assistance from Roger.

My "Introduce Yourself" entry should give a reasonable impression of this as I spend 400-500 hours each year doing vollie work for one charity and other ad-hoc volunteer help for others as time is available in various states of Oz as required, for up to 3 months.

I am now an fairly old bloke, but find that a by-product of doing stuff for others helps to keep me mentally and physically fit. Now I just have to find time to fit in the new prospecting activities, but I am sure I will find some time somewhere.

If anyone would like to know how to get involved with this sort of volunteer stuff, ask away.

Rob
