As I have reached the recliner rocker stage, I thought its time to become an armchair prospector. I started prospecting in the mid 60's and have lived on most
of the major goldfields in Victoria.
My first sluice was a piece of carpet held down in the river that everything went on to then taken home, dried off, then the dust was bashed out and panned.
I have tried detecting but my heart is in the river.
My last trip out was spent looking at the art of paddocking, tracing headraces, tailraces, and understanding what was worked and why.
With the occasional stalking lyre-birds and looking at Samba rub marks. Its difficult for me to move through the dogwood and blackberries now
But I can still do a river dance around the sluice.
Its nice to reflect back to what I have done, and that cannot be taken away. Riches are not money. Victor.
