Hi everyone back out to the old homestead site that I have been slowly
and methodically going over finds are becoming scarce now but did manage to pick
up a few nice relics today.

Is photo 1 & 2 a camp oven or hot water pot lid, great finds :Y: some sentimental history in that lot.

RM that's a button mate... it's over far left of the thistle in photo No. 7. :Y:
I see that little ring going on there too.... has that got a stone in it trev ? 8)

I'm assuming that is a locket with a super heavy hinge,I was going to say that you wouldn't lose the photo inside but I would be wrong, all things are possible I suppose over time.

I would have liked to see a close up of that little ring 8)

Interesting hunt :Y:

The ring has no stones and looks like it is just kids dress up ring let me know if you think otherwise guys :)

The ring is not necessarily for a child, there is plenty of Victorian era jewellery out there that is just gold gilt over a copper base, the average person could rarely afford the real deal back then. Might be a different case detecting over a site with more wealthy former occupants, but for most Victorian sites I detect it is usually cheaper gold gilt items.

The thistle pendant might be made of pewter. Earlier pewter had some lead content hence the weight, and usually oxidises to a dark grey. :)

Not sure Diggertrev, if it is heavy I don't believe that it would have been worn as a brooch so quite possibly on a skirt. The back definitely shows positions for a pin of some description. Others on here would have more knowledge than I.
