Old Cricket badge?

Any Idea's on how old this peice is?
Would it have been a badge?

Cricket Buckle to fix a belt or scarf used to hold up a cricketers pants. Braces which were the most common means of holding up a man’s pants back in the 1800s but were considered impracticable for the exertions of cricket.
Many players preferred either not to use buckles and simply tied up a scarf around their pants. W G Grace was one of those saying that he preferred not to have a buckle as the sound of of the bat hitting the buckle was too much like the sound of the ball hitting the edge of a bat.

Not a great fan of the cricket buckle and preferred the sash to hold my pants up.
Would've had a lot of trouble getting a buckle out of the way, if I decided to let one go through.
