I need help please in identification.
 
I'd say a cricket buckle.
Are there any connecting bits at the back? They may have broken off.
Anyway - Congrats a great find!
 
Cheese, all I can offer is go back and look for the head,..lovely find though.
 
I did look for his head.lol.
I would say that this cricketer was part
of presentations after a game of Cricket,
"I need to know the age of this piece", 1870?.
And yes the head looks to be snapped off
not cut, Interesting.
 
How tall is it Cheese ? and have we seen the back of it ?(second photo).
 
Yes the back is the second pic, and it is about 2inches tall.
soz for using feet and inches but, I never broke the habit.
 
Ahhhh,...Old Cheese (ha),....Old Silver too.
I did a search on Google and couldn't find anything similar.

Old lead shot, I detected it on the surface and on hard ground but It has done the years still clean.
 
Good stuff Cheese,..what's the coin/token/medallion in behind young Victoria ?
