The minting of copper twenty ris or vintem began with in 1693 and continued steadily thru the eighteenth century. This specimen was struck at the Lisbon mint for Brazil in 1773-76. Many were countermarked in 1809 to raise their value to forty ris. Counterfeits are numerous but are collected alongside the genuine issues.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
