My stepson found this in the whipsticks today oldest coin he has found to date 1677 and also found a bit of colour to go with it (bastard) lol

Bet the guy who found it's not, did they come from the same hunt through gold fields?
 
Thanks john but i dont think it will ever be sold his mum has told him she wants it as a neckles lol so he had lost it too lol

Mate, you're not going to get anywhere with finding a spot by posting exactly the same question in every thread. You need to do some research, no one is going to give away favourite spots.

Research and more research, then go out for a pan and post your results with pics, even if you find nothing you'll gain some respect from fellow prospectors for just having a go. Prospectors/fossickers are very cagey when it comes to spots and for good reason. You'll get to know people by having a go and maybe even turn up to the occasional group outing. It's very rare that someone will offer up a spot on the open forum.

Dont take this the wrong way but it's the way the prospecting community works.

Going back to the coin depicted ...

Most likely a 'Proclamation' coin of England.

Which would have dated to around early 1800s to 1870 thereabouts.

There were many foreign coins assigned a standard value in the pre-Federation States.
