Happened to me twice, the last time it was a blessing but depends on personal circumstances.
I was lucky enough to have had super since 1972 (tks Ford Motor Co).
At 66 I didn't mind, was actually hoping it would come .....
These days detecting whenever I want (the good wife doesn't object too often).
SDC & 4800 keep me busy, loving every day.
Hope it works out for you,
Good luck, T.

Take it as a change for the better, I personally think it's good to change workplace/job occupation every few years.
Meet new people, learn new things - start at te bottom, work your way up.
Surprise people and earn respect.
Regardless of all of the above I hope you can manage the change Sandta and support yourself and/or family.

Sorry to hear that sandta,
I've been retrenched 3 times in my working life of 39 years and all I can say is this.
I still am getting older and fatter and I still have my wife and kids, the sun still shines and I live in the land of Oz.
With little education I seem to bounce back up and shake off the worries.
It's amazing how little we need and how much we want!
Work should not define who a person is so hang in there and start your new adventure mate.
All the very best to you and your family.
Regards Steve :)

I know how you feel Sandta, gutted, lost, directionless etc etc. It took myself and my fellow redundant work colleagues a while to let things sink in after 13 years of continual employment. I took that as a sign to move on to something completely different, more so a lifestyle change if anything. It forces you to re-evaluate everything in your life, and often that can be a good thing, even if it feels like you are staring into a blank future at first.

I took the opportunity to pack up and shift to a different location, and to seek out a completely different line of work, closing a chapter on one part of my life, and start over again afresh. I lost all interest in my former line of employment as a result of a redundancy, and also due to little prospect of any further work, so I really needed to make some big changes and hard choices in my life. So far it has been probably the best decision I have made, although very daunting at first. Best of luck Sandta. :)

Mate I am sorry to hear that. There is way to much of that happening in the Hunter at the moment. As has already been said, I hope you got a good pay out to tide you over to what ever it is you decide to do next. Take care mate.

Yes, happened to me in the 90s, and I also never went back to that type of work. But its a crap thing at first, and you feel at a loss for awhile. Best of luck mate.

I'm afraid there's a lot of us here mate. When i was made redundant in 1999, I as well as about 30 others were given a "ceremony" where we we were given a medallion made of recycled coke cans and a piece ice of paper thanking us for our years of service. We hated the management so much, and they new it, that they didn't even give us a chance to make goodbye speech as they knew what we would say.@#$#$%^$^%&@#

That's tough. I know circumstances are different for everyone but the feeling is the same. I had a job I loved in a small company i worked for for 3 years and about 6 months into changeover the new owners told me the bad news. Right at this time of year bam same thing, redundant, and had little to show after a very small payout. Depressed the hell out of me. It was damn hard work at first looking for a new opportunity.

3 months later I was earning twice as much and in a job I loved more. It's amazing how much inner strength we can find in the face of adversity. Good luck sandta, keep your head high and keep at it mate, you just never know what's around the corner.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Sandta,

I hope everything works out well in the end and I reckon the fellas on here have given you some pretty sound advice.

Best of luck for the future mate

Hey buddy,
Sometimes we see the hard side of life and it sucks. It's a new beginning not the end of anything. Keep the chin up and enjoy the good things that you have around you.
Most of all - make sure you talk to someone if you feel a bit low.
Keep swinging.
Terry

I feel your pain, doesn't make it suck any less.

So, head up, look forward and take one step after the other, remember you're stronger and better for it.

Cheers

Bazz

No good mate,
I spent 18 months out of work and I was lucky that I kept myself busy and had a pastime that I was able to get out and get my mind of things.
Chin up and there is always another door opening to an amazing world.
Cheers and good luck.
Brad.
