Hi guys
my name is wayne
I am reasonably new at this prospecting game
Done a lot more research than actual prospecting
Done a couple of trips now
Been down to Drake and Ewinger
Tough country through there. I have a SDC 2300 but detecting around Ewinger is not for the faint hearted. I pushed into Solferino and camped there for a couple of days. Found a few colours , a lot of mines and a lot of history. Lovelly spot but copped a couple of wild storms
The storms forced me out so I went to Glendon at Warick for a couple of days and played around there honing my skills
I didn't fing much that trip but have only just returned from Talgai State Forest where I went bush searching some remote areas. Again no luck.
Be interested in hearing if anyone has any luck or hints for that country
Panning is easy but finding areas where detecting is feasible is a lot tougher
I pushed into some pretty remote areas (got slightly lost) but never really found much
I have a good collection of lead shot however
Found tonnes of evidence however of mining and occupation
Be happy to chat to anyone who would like to swap info

g'day Wayne :D
and welcome!!

Howdy Wayne . Welcome to the forum . Have found nothing with my detector in Talgai but done ok with pan and dry sluice in a washout that someone had allready started but hadnt filled .

Hi guys
I worked the northern end
I know a couple of gullies have good colour but I like my detecting
Country is hilly but not to bad
Was surprised at the soil
Lots of loamy soil with rock and easy digging to find shotgun pellets
Had me a little concerned as I thought it was a little to easy to hold gold which I am guessing is deeper
Has anyone worked this area
Duraki looked a bit better at holding gold but not much luck there either
I get a long way away from the well beaten track and there is plenty of signs of mining activity
Fast working out that the leaf litter hides a signal pretty well and its marvellous how quickly a signal improves when a quick clearing of an area occurs
I have found some good colour just to prove gold exist in most areas but digging is hard work.
Has anyone done much work in these areas
be happy to swap info

Hi guys
Had a weekend out prospecting again
No gold but a couple of interesting finds

The first is a solid little lump about 25mm
It is very heavy and shows grey metal under the whitish grey coat which is quite hard like rock.
I thought lead or silver
Any suggestions

the second is about the size of a 50 cent piece and about 15mm thick. Quite wavy and almost melted and is magnetic.I thought it may have been a little meteorite
Any tghoughts

PS Don't go prospecting on a 40 degree hot weekend Its bloody hard work

First one is probly lead if the little protrusions bend easily. :D
