Hi All,

Looking at joining your ranks as a casual detector.
About to pull the trigger on a Garrett ATX as it looks like a good solid all rounder pretty easy to use for newbies.

I do a bit of 4x4 so hoping to add it as an extension to that passion.

Ive looked over the permit side of things a little but it is a bit confusing - is there a link that will take me to exactly the right permit for prospecting firstly in VIC and then for other states or is there a combination of permits I need?

Cheers

G'day mate, welcome to the ranks.
Getting ready for work, so I'll make it brief.
Here's a link to a Prospecting guide and online shop for Prospecting Permit. This way you can buy it anytime of day and print it.
As far as the ATX goes, I'm about to get the Deepseeker package myself.
See it you can find some of my posts. I did a review of one I hired over Christmas.
Also, there's a few of us going to Daylesford this weekend. You should find some details for that in my posts as well.
I'm off.

Cheers, Ron.

Welcome aboard Wally,
There's good folk here & a wealth of experience to tap into.
For Victoria, in the above post from Nugget -you'll find a link to the DPI website where you can either buy a Miners Right from one of their offices & like I did, buy one online & print it off at home(crop it before printing so it fits in ya wallet & laminate it).
Then there's the list of do's & don'ts etc.

Prospecting will go hand in hand with ya 4x4 interest. You'll be wondering how many creeks you've driven thru/past & now wonder if they could have had colour in them.

I always carry a plastic pan in the ute under the seat - takes up no room & is light as.

Look forward to hearing of your adventures.

Cheers - Marty

Thanks Guys - the ATX is on it's way from States as i could not get one locally.

Cant wait to give it a test run - and me a test run for that matter - thanks for the info.

Cheers
Wal

welcome wally i'm a 4wd nut myself, its a natural progression to get a detector once you start seeing mineralized ground you just have to give it a crack/.

Welcome to the crew Wally! As Ron mentioned a few of us are heading to Daylesford this Saturday, you're welcome to come along and join in.

See you out and about sometime.

Mark

Would love to come along guys but ATX probably won't arrive in time and we are deep in the throws of planning our national FJ Cruiser Summit in Dargo for week before Easter so we are running a few tracks this weekend which looks like being a beauty.

Thanks for the invite though - definitely take you up on a future trip.
