Hello everyone, looking to jump into the detecting rabbit hole very soon. Have been lurking in here for a week or two, as well as YouTube (feels like I've watched every video there is)
That searching thrill is awakening I can sense it growing in me! I'm in Melbourne and i can't wait to hit some beaches and parks and researching areas of old, but also looking to hit the triangle maybe whipstick area. I got a Doug Stone map from eBay of that area and I think I know where I want to head, but I'm still detectorless atm lol. Equinox 800 is gonna be my weapon of choice (was nearly there with $$ but unfortunately my cat got sick and $800 went flying out my bank account) Had to be done though I love my little boy, and before anyone says anything, yes I know a bullet only costs a couple of $ but no, just no.
Anyway, wanted to intro myself, btw, realised my username is VERY similar to a memberon here and I apologize, total coincidence if I could change I would but yea there it is..looking forward to future correspondence on here peoples, it actually feels like one big happy family in here after reading your posts the last few weeks. Cheers.

Yup just one big happy family with a few crazy rellos that keep stopping by layful: , just keep in mind youtube shows the highlights and in most cases theres 100 lowlights between each highlight .

Crazy rellos lol I like that, yea I realise YouTube is a kind of highlight reel, and I really am not expecting to find anything in the goldfields but rust, lead and alike, and especially with nox, but you never know. If I walk over it, and it's on or near surface, it's mine!! All mine!!
Don't worry, I've learnt to set my expectations low, that way, the only way is up!

Be careful digging in Parks.
Use neat minimal impact digging techniques?
Grassed areas are a bit too dry at the moment.

Swinging & digging oh I will for sure. I was always taught to leave things as I found them and that is what I intend to do, but it's still in the not too distant future for me as I said I still don't have a detector yet layful: 8.(

You will most likely find digging in Council Parks is illegal in most of Victoria.
Been seen often attracts others especially if you show them your finds.
