just got back from 12 mths over west and discovered this forum, pretty good by the looks of it info here is tops!
for the 12 mths I was over there I concentrated my weekends aound norseman kal Coolgardie widgie bulong lake yindarlgooda kurnalpi,all for a specie containing around 2-3 ounces (according to the spec grav test) and a ten grammer
loved the place although at times was a bit intimidating due to some dumb prks in the scrub
once I got followed on a gazetted public road and while I was not even out detectin for nearly 20ks and then the mongrel pulled up about 500 mtrs away when I pulled up under a tree and had a beer or 2 and a coupla sangers, that was near lake yindarlgooda
another time I was around norseman with a mate and just pulled up really just to have alook around at this place and a moron drove up and started saying how he was lookin for people stealing gold to my mate who was in his car about30 mtrs away from mine ( we were campin out sleepin ion the back of our utes) I was carvin some ham off a bone and stated to walk over to see what was going on (with the knife and the ham in hand ) and the hero crapt it and drove off at a fast rate
I left my mate there and went into norseman and reported him to the police who seemed very interested, if my mate hadn't of been one not easily stood over and wasn't a sandgroper from a couple 100 k's away things may have got a tad out of hand we went further into the bush and the fruitcake came back and was belting around the bush trying to find us, never had a chance as we are both excellent bushmen
I cant believe that the people over there have let things degenerate to the state they are at the moment with prospectors being banned from most areas unless they join a circus and learn how to jump through the hoops they have set up, it even got to where I heard of a conservative incumbent candidate at the last state election actually stating that small time prospecting should be banned , this in a state where at Kalgoorlie, the smalltime miners actually had legislstion overturned in their favour with alluvial claims on mining leases, this has been watered down to the state it is today a pale imitation of a just mining law for all
anyway despite all the above, going back there to spend a month or so just detectin
