NEWBIE TO SITE

HI ALL ,, I have Joined the site here as I have started a Metal Detector Hobby ,..

I am a 74 Y/OLD Pensioner from ****OROWIE [MID-NTH -of SA] ..

I hope to Visit Victorian gold Fields in a few weeks ..

MY previous hobby Electric Guitar & DIY projects for That [Still have my gear ]

I have built a DIY IDX M/D from a Kit [GEO-TECH SITE] ,I also sold some excess music Gear & bought a New Whites GMT-3 From the DUNNOLY Shop..[NICE-HELPFULL GUYS ][DEAN]..

ALSO was told about the up-coming new Whites PI detector ???? Could be affordable ??????????????..for a novice like me??????..

Hey Barry,

Welcome mate. Good to see you out having a go!

I am sure you will learn a lot from these folks on this forum and with your life experience you can give us some tips as well.

When I am your age I hope to be doing the same as you, not like a lot of other people sitting around in a retirement home waiting to die!

Good on you mate for taking up a new hobby which is challenging, rewarding and a lot of the time frustrating!

Welcome Barry, it is a credit to for starting such a hobby at your age, I wish you the best of luck in your hunt for gold. I too love my electric guitars, and building new ones up from bits and pieces, great time filler, and extremely rewarding when they turn out perfect.

By the way Barry, have you thought of heading up Tibooburra way, seems to be quite a successful hunting spot for the GMT on the small pickers?

[Adelaide moderator] NO I have not heard much about ,Tipooburra?????????????? But will investigate thanks..

I Was to go camping [wife & I] to the vic-goldfields next week for a couple weeks, [we have my old self fitted Toyota coaster all 12v for free camping] ,But I have a unexpected- medical issue to deal with first [BUGGA].. :|

BUT we are close to the Burra area [25ks] & I may try out there for some practice ..

YES GUITARS ,I was into the shadows sounds Built a couple Multi-tap echo units,[ETAP2],,,,, Valve amps,FET preamps,Modified a couple Tape units to MEAZZI-SPECS etc.. etc etc But the Old fingers do not seem to relate to the grey-Matter these days still have 2x strats 1x usa &a modified SQUIER..

Decided on a new hobby M/D ,I am a retired motor mechanic welder [still do a bit,no heavy stuff now though..

I would like a PI unit But out of my Budget for now..I think a used SD2000 or a F1A4 ????& modify it..
