Newbie from gladstone QLD

Hey all, I've recently been searching the net on info about gold prospecting and as a beginner who doesn't even have a detector yet this place is a wealth of knowledge. With that I was wondering if there's anyone around the Gladstone region who wouldn't mind showing me the ropes and what sort of gear I should invest in to get started?

Thanks for the welcome guys . I've done a bit of research and hopefully in the new year I'll be confident enough to invest some money into the right equipment. Just a lot to process at the moment sifting through all the different detectors and stuff lol. Thanks for the link @Parko, will look into it.

Haha lanky was really a high school nickname as I'm only 6'4, but I was born in 1987. Gladstone is about 2hrs south of Yeppoon on the coast, I have found the local gem, rock and mineral club on the net so Should be getting into it sooner rather than later
