Newbie from Cairns

Hi to all,just a bit about us
My son and i have gotten a bit of a bug to give some fossicking a go never tried it. My son is almost 18 and im 39,(yes nearly the big 40) He's off to the army soon so want to spend a bit of quality time with him so what more better place than the great outdoors ,We do a fair bit of bush camping around cairns and surrounding areas when we get a chance.So the wife said why don't you boys do a boys trip Righto i said didn't have to ask me twice ,so Was looking on the net for some advice /direction and came across this site to be a wealth of knowledge and by reading some of the forums a very friendly bunch of people who are more than willing to help out the newbies its fantastic.Thanks for your time guys.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome as Goldpick stated i better get out there , we are planning to do a trip in 2 weeks for a couple of days so ile post up some photos of how we went.Thanks bushpig hopefully might catch up and meet up with a few local guys as well.

Good to see another northerner enjoying the great scenery we have at our disposal. Plenty of camping, fishing and of course prospecting info on offer here.
First stop should be th Miners den over on Anderson St, george will fix you up with a permit, gear and even some sage advice if you ask nicely.

Thank you,yes this site is a wealth of info.
Yes we are going to drop into the miners den to buy all our gear from George,and ask very nicely for some advice,I actually just found out that Ive known his brother for a long time through a working relationship.(small world) yes would love to catch up for a coffee/meet.
