Hi all

I'm from WA and have just retired. Last year we started travelling around our great country. Deciding to try something different I bought a SCD 2300 and try our luck. Thanks to some great tips and help in NT by a prospector we have had some luck. We have also had a go at fossicking for gemstones. All in all we are having a ball!

I am thinking of adding a 5000 to my gear. We are in South Australia at the moment. Will be heading to Victoria to try our luck before heading north for some warm weather!

Hi Nomad,

Welcome to the forum. Vic is a great place to prospect, fingers crossed you find some yellow. The SDC is great machine and you should find plenty of color with it in victoria. As for the GPX5000, its a great machine but it really does take time to under stand it properly. I'd recommend trying to do a tour with a company in vic, with the chance of some knowledge passed on to you for the 5000.

Just my thought and good luck.

Congrats. on your retirement. Just remember, you never RE-tire, you just get TIRED.
If you ever get to F.N.Q. call into the Atherton Mineral & Lapidary Club, good display of rocks & gems +info.on locality's etc. :)
